해외언론[PH/Capitol News] Medipeace Donates 2 More Ambulances to Iloilo Hospitals

Response to emergency calls will now be faster as two more ambulances were added to the district hospitals in Iloilo Province. The ambulances were donated by Medipeace, a Korean non-government organization partner of the provincial government. They will be given to Aleosan District Hospital and Barotac Viejo District Hospital. Representatives from the organization led the turnover ceremony at the Iloilo Provincial Capitol lobby on Dec. 3, 2018.

Medipeace now has donated a total of 14 ambulances which were distributed to the 12 district hospitals.

Dr. Lee Taebum, Global Health Cooperation Program director, said the project is an opportunity to explore ways to forge bonds between Korea and the Philippines in the field of health and human rights. “Opportunities created by international cooperation have often brought daunting challenges. I firmly believe that, in the face of the new challenges such as the development on Philippine-Korea health cooperation, as we unite in our efforts among Iloilo Province members, as has been in the past, we can overcome the obstacles before us and triumph,” Lee said in his speech.

Also part of the ceremony was the turnover of clinic supplies, materials, and medicines to Nicomedes R. Tubar Sr. National High School in San Dionisio and Santiago National High School in Barotac Viejo. It is part of Medipeace’s Clinic Support Program.

Dumangas SB Member Rose Marie Duremdes Doromal, also presented a resolution from the municipal council commending Medipeace, Seoul National University Hospital and the Korean Health Industry Development Institute for sponsoring the free surgical operation of 5-year-old Zhen Mary Kathleen Deypalubos from Dumangas.

Deypalubos underwent thoracotomy on Nov. 12, 2018 at Seoul National University Hospital to correct her congenital heart defect Patent Ductus Arteriosus. PDA is an unclosed hole in the aorta.

Medipeace also sponsored a workshop on hospital data management attended by 60 district hospital personnel at Ramon Tabiana Memorial District Hospital in Cabatuan on December 4. (Louine Hope Conserva/Capitol news)
